Music for Ukraine

The Music for Ukraine fundraising concert series was established in 2022 by pianist and UCMP President Dr. Diana Chubak, together with her colleagues. The inaugural recitals featured violinist Andrii Isakov, cellist Dr. Josh Bermudez, bandurist and keyboardist Maksym Mahlay. Within just two months, the series raised approximately $55,000. These funds were donated to nonprofit organizations in Ukraine and the United States that support refugees, soldiers, and civilians with humanitarian and medical aid.

The success of Music for Ukraine inspired the creation of the Ukrainian Classical Music Project (UCMP), where the series remains a cornerstone of the organization’s mission: to promote, preserve, and educate about Ukrainian classical music while raising awareness and support for those affected by the war.

Lectures

UCMP offers engaging educational lectures focused on the history of Ukrainian classical music, the challenges faced by its composers, and the cultural significance of Ukrainian classical music. These presentations are held at universities, performing arts schools, and other venues across the United States. Upon request, the UCMP team also shares insights on building a nonprofit organization as a way to transform artistic passion into meaningful cultural action. Aimed at students, educators, and the general public, these lectures foster an appreciation for Ukraine’s musical legacy and its enduring relevance today. If you wish to invite UCMP for a lecture and concert, please contact us at contact@ucmproject.org.
